I’m Sharon Thoms the owner of FishTanks.store. I have been a fish keeper for over 40 years and I know every problem there is that comes with keeping fish. I also used to look at those time consuming aquascapes and wish I could get my planted tanks to look even a quarter as good as the pros. In the end I worked out with a quality image of the look I wanted, applied to the back glass of my tank, looked just as good as the real thing.

A Few Quick Steps and Your Done

1. Apply your background- spray back glass with water, peel backing away, stick from the top and smooth down. Remove air bubbles with a plastic card.
2. Add your substrate, complimentary colour works best. Make sure to wash first.
3. Choose either a piece of driftwood or a nice large rock or both, depending on the size of your tank.
4. Choose either or both of these easy to care for, low light, low fuss plants and attach to your wood or your rock with some thread or a bit of aquarium safe Super Glue.
5. The plants: Java Fern or Anubis. Require a splash of fertalizer occassionally. Happy in most light conditions. Just easy to grow and keep alive plants that are beautiful. Two or three are more than enough as they will grow. If you buy large to start with you’ll need even less.
6. A small low flow filter. A magnetic glass cleaner. A bucket and Syphon for water changes. De-chlorinator, for water changes.
7. Maintenance: Do a 25% water change once a fortnight is fine for a Betta fish on it’s own.
8. Feeding: Don’t over feed your fish. A small pinch twice a day is perfect. Bettas love protein, so blood worms and other treats a couple times a week.
